This page offers basic guidance on typesetting a LaTeX document in the Assamese language using the Bangla script.

Support with ini locale file

Here is a minimal sample file with assamese as the main language (assuming luatex, which is the recommended engine, and babel ≥24.14, although it may work with previous versions).

\usepackage[provide=*]{babel}

\babelfont{rm}{Noto Serif Bengali}

% The next 2 lines make sure the Latin script is displayed.
\babelprovide[onchar=fonts letters]{english}
