Hello all,

The team are working on moving some functions from l3candidates to the
'stable' part of expl3. As part of this, we have added new functions

    \dim_to_decimal:n
    \dim_to_decimal_in_bp:n
    \dim_to_decimal_in_unit:nn

These replace both the experimental \dim_to_pt:n, etc., and the internal
\__dim_strip_(bp|pt):n. The team note that the latter have been used in
third party code, and as such will not be removed immediately from
expl3. Instead, the "strip" functions will be added to the standard
deprecation cycle: marked as deprecated now, and for removal at the end
of 2015.

The new functions will of course appear in the next CTAN snapshot of
expl3: this is likely to take place in the coming days.
