A review of the local and global scratch registers (such as \l_tmpa_tl) across l3kernel has revealed some inconsistencies. We have settled for providing 2 local and 2 global registers of each type. For most datatypes, this meant adding a couple of scratch registers. Integers provided more scratch registers, hence \l_tmpc_int had to be pruned. -- Bruno Le Floch
