Joseph,

don't know if my posts last night helped in any way but I certainly think t=
hat the main task we have is to get a clear understanding of what the users=
 need is and what this user really is.

so if you guys humor me here and try ansering these questions from your per=
spective (just like I tried last night) ie who is going to be the user and =
what do they need? I think that this would bring us a step forward.

Hello Frank,

Before anyone (probably Will or me) does any actual work on some of the tem=
plate discussion, I wonder if you would summarise what you think the templa=
te approach gets right that I've got wrong in template-alt, or more general=
ly what we need to bear in mind at the "defining a template"
level.  I'd point out that I know that there are some "holes", and that we'=
ve already got a list of probable revisions (Will's point about initial val=
ues, for example).
