my first feeling (which is probably just biased) is that I'm not at all
convinced.

I wonder if we want to discuss this on this level first a bit internally
rather than on the list (for a number of reasons, one of which being JF)

I would prefer internal, but I guess you guys might think differently, so I
let you decide
