I suspect this might be very awkward as things like {\Large Some text}
then won't work.  I assume your thinking that things like \emph{Text}
would all be implemented using delimited arguments?  (This seems a bit
tricky in any case.)  Although the user interface for LaTeX3 is a long
way off, I would suspect that this type of thing will stay.
