This is quite intuitive but has a few restrictions, especially with spaces in filenames. (Though I think spaces should be avoided, they definitely don't make life easier.) The graphics package provides an other kind if list syntax: \graphicspath{{file1}{file2}}. In LaTeX3 it would be better to have only one type of list syntax, at least at user level. If you mention \includeonly, something different comes = into my mind:

\includeonly expects a comma-seperated list = like
