Hello,

My problem is very simple.
I am writing a little document for my lab
and I describe NFSS2. In particular, I want
to illustrate \DeclareSymbolFont and
\SetSymbolFont. I want to change *locally* the
symbol font "letters". Of course, I noticed I can't
just write

{
     \DeclareSymbolFont{letters}{OML}{cmtt}{m}{it}
     \SetSymbolFont{letters}{bold}{OML}{cmm}{b}{it}

<formulas>
}

in the middle of my document.

So, I put the following in the preamble:

     \DeclareSymbolFont{myletters}{OML}{cmtt}{m}{it}
     \SetSymbolFont{myletters}{bold}{OML}{cmm}{b}{it}

And later, I want to write:

{
<something to use "myletters" in place of "letters"> (*)

<formulas>
}

In place of (*) I tried \let\symletters=\symmyletters
which refers to NFSS2 internals, but it doesn't seem to work.
I was not able to find a solution in interfac.ltx.
Am I missing something ?
