It took surprisingly long for that question to come up :-)

We announced in Aston that LaTeX2e would be ready in fall this year.
I confess that at that time I thought about end of Oktober,
underestimating (as usual) the amount of work involved in moving to a
new home, writing a book, preparing the LaTeX2e distribution at the
same time.

However, knowing that fall goes just before Christmas I think I can
promise that we match the schedule announced in Aston. (does this guy
never learn?)
