Yes it can. In fact in my first message of today I was suggesting such
a solution (which I already implemented for a couple of styles that I
use often, and which has been done in other distributed styles as well).

So, I would like to propose again that solutions as mentioned before
and above are implemented in the 'official' styles as much as possible.
