So don't let us lock in on a particular vendor solution (be it PostScript or PCL). DVI is a good low-level page description language and let's leave it with that. Instead, let the user decide whether he/she wants to put a giant extra layer (PostScript) between the DVI and his/her printer or if he/she wants to use a small, efficient, almost 1-to-1 layer (PCL; more specifically PCL5 if scalable fonts a la PostScript are needed).
