So do also a fair number of other printers. no, that doesn't quite prove it, though I admit it tends that way. Because not all the 9 million laser printers are used for TeX. Given that TeX is a minority interested compared with (say) Wordperfect, is it not possible that the TeX users might fall into the upper bracket of sophistication (eg have bought into PostScript)? The `average' computer user with her PC and LaserJet printer isn't running TeX, we can be sure of that! the glory of TeX (and LaTeX3) is, of course, that this discussion is quite irrelevant to the future of our pet Sebastian
