I, for one, insist on doing it correctly and I have made it stick so far. My wife (who is professional translator) had a knock-down drag-out battle in her office on the issue, at the end of which it was decided that each translator would do it his own way. She uses the logical method. This is not really a TeX issue, except to point out that TeX will not replace the copy editor. Michael Barr
