Also, only a fairly large tex can handle it. I (and my coauthor) had to remove quite a few labels (and expand some macros) in order to get our book to compile under the limitation of 3500 CS names, including labels. We ended up with about 3495 such names. This was less than 3 years ago. Nowadays, this is not serious, but it is still tedious. Especially, say, if you have a problem with parts a,b,c,..., say and you want to refer to b. For then you have to have a different kind of label and things can get quite complicated. Michael Barr
