I agree with Bernard as far as european languages are concerned. However, for, say, oriental languages (and I think that is what Dominik is concerned about), I doubt that we will be able to live without the accent commands. Another point to consider here is the user interface. I think that it wasn't a good idea in the first place that \' and \` mean something different inside the tabbing environment. Rainer Schoepf
