You might want to have a look at the Text Encoding Initiative Guidlines which have defined SGML tag sets for many kinds of text: prose, verse, drama, spoken texts, letters and memoranda, dictionaries, lecical data, terminological data, language corpora & collections, etc., etc. Contact Lou Burnard for further information and the availability of documentation.
