We use a (relatively) fast machine to do all our = (La)TeX-ing. We have moved all our <.pk> files to an unused machine (which we call = 'Fonz' the fontserver) on the network. Since you raised the question on this list, no, I don't think the = printer should rasterize. I think MF is very good at this and what's more, it = does the job only once. If you let the printer do this, it has to do it each = time you use a font. Now, suppose your printer has a 68000, then rasterizing is a pretty heavy job for it. Besides, I love MetaFont as a language. I have enormous trouble trying = to draw Beziers but with MF I can express them in a mathematical form. But sure enough, that's not a discussion for a LaTeX3 list. EJee. -- Erik-Jan Vens. That's right. We use a (relatively) fast machine to do = all our (La)TeX-ing. We
have moved all our <.pk> files to an unused = machine (which we call 'Fonz' the

Since you raised the question on this list, no, I = don't think the printer
should rasterize. I think MF is very good at this and = what's more, it does the
job only once.  If you let the printer do this, = it has to do it each time you
use a font. Now, suppose your printer has a 68000, = then rasterizing is a
pretty heavy job for it.

Besides, I love MetaFont as a language. I have = enormous trouble trying to draw
Beziers but with MF I can express them in a = mathematical form. But sure
enough, that's not a discussion for a LaTeX3 = list.
