Dr. Higginson used SPIRES and BIBOUT to not only manage his 7,900 bibliographic records, but also used the BIBOUT APA LaTeX style output format to create camera-ready final copy printout for his publisher (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, Hillsdale, New Jersey). Roy's work is also available from his publisher on nine Macintosh diskettes or 15 DOS 5 1/4" diskettes which were also created from his SPIRES BIBOUT database. He has a renewable contract with his publishers for updates of the database every six months for the next eight years and anticipates that the number of records in the database will increase by about 300 records every six months. The database has also been installed in VAX and UNIX formats at the University of California (Berkeley), Columbia University Teacher's College Library, the Max-Planck-Institute for Psycholinguistics (The Netherlands), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and installation is expected at the University of Wisconsin (Madison), the University of New Hampshire, and Vanderbilt University. The DOS version was demonstrated at the Fifth International Child Language Congress in Budapest (July, 1990) and will be presented at the European Child Language Seminar at Manchester University in March 1991. BIBOUT is cited in Dr. Higginson's preface for its fine bibliographic work, and is mentioned whenever he makes presentations about the database. BIBOUT is the common name for two Iowa State University applications (MLA BIBOUT and APA BIBOUT) of SPIRES for the building of bibliographic databases. APA BIBOUT has recently added a LaTeX output format as used in Dr. Higginson's bibliography. For more information on BIBOUT, contact Joe Struss at Iowa State University (GA.JAS@ISUMVS.BITNET). ******************************************************************** ------_=_NextPart_001_01C19443.3B27ABD4 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Information re use of BibTeX
