Today my fingers are faster than my brains... There is, however, one remark concerning MakeIndex that I want to communicate via this list. One of the deficencies of MakeIndex is that it is written in C. That means that there are many people (especially on mainframes) that are not able to get a working version of the program. (Remember that on mainframes, each extra compiler costs a lot of money.) My point is this: I think it desirable to rewrite MakeIndex in terms of WEB, not because I think that WEB is a better approach, but because those who run TeX have a Pascal system, and cosequently WEB. I don't want to start a discussion on this list, I onlywant to bring this to your attention. Rainer
