The latest version of MakeIndex is available for anonymous
FTP on science.utah.edu in aps:<tex.pub.makeindex>.  I've
supplied Pehong Chen with a copy, but having set up an
independent computer consulting firm, he is no longer on the
Internet.

There should be no problem in someone in Europe with FTP
access grabbing this version, and putting it on other
servers.

According to the README file:
