As noted previously, it is possible to avoid these problems, but only with great difficulty. Now supposing that we arrange things so that every LaTeX built-in command can accept \verb and Levy's Greek in its arguments. What then do we say to the user when he asks why \mycommand{\verb+\Foo+} doesn't work? But it would be nice to modify at least sectioning, footnotes, marginpars, and captions to allow this and note in the documentation that they are special cases. -dh
